Hi! My name is Gaby and I’m the owner-operator of Waterproof Swim School.I aim to make quality swim lessons convenient for busy families by bringing private instruction right to your pool.I began teaching swim lessons as a poolside Jr. Lifeguard at 11 years old. My first professional job was at the same pool a few years later, teaching with the American Red Cross WSI curriculum. I learned infant and toddler survival swimming techniques and the backfloat method that I teach today in 2014 at a little swim school in Santa Clarita where I went to college.Throughout college and a little afterward, I worked at elite swim schools in Long Beach and Orange County, training instructors, writing curriculum, and refining my craft.From the start of my swim teaching journey in 2007 until starting my own business in 2023, I worked alongside instructors with decades of experience. Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on the back float method. It's a fundamentals-first approach that uses floating as a stepping stone to independent swimming and stroke development.The biggest win with this method is the ability to swim independently at an earlier age than with other methods. It's also great for developing efficient swimming habits.Levels covered in our curriculum:
- Level 1: Breath Control, Buoyancy, and Self-Rescue
- Level 2: Independent Swimming
- Level 3: Freestyle and Backstroke
- Level 4: Breaststroke and Butterfly
- Level 5: Swim Team, Junior Guard, or Water Polo PrepSee more info on swim levels below.Your child's learning speed will mostly depend on their age, previous experience, and lesson frequency.

In 2026, we will be in Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Huntington Beach on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.- Lessons are still scheduled as weekly recurring appointments.- A package of 3, 5, 10, or 20 lessons must be purchased to enroll.- Siblings can share packages of 10 or more lessons.- Returning clients: Purchase your first package for 2026 at the 2025 rate now through 1/31/2026. Advanced package purchase doesn't guarantee a specific time spot, but will give you priority on the waitlist.Closure Dates for 2026:*

- Tuesdays: 9/22, 12/8
